Patrick Smith

Patrick is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Overark Ltd and Caucus Intelligent Risk PCC.
A vastly experienced insurance, risk and claims management professional, Patrick’s strategic-level
expertise spans:
• Enterprise-wide risk management framework implementation
• Global insurance and captive programme design and delivery
• Organisational transformation and change management
• Supply chain management and procurement

During his 35 years in senior roles across the financial services sector, Patrick has worked with
numerous market-leading organisations helping drive business transformation, embed intelligent risk financing and implement large scale cross-functional, cross-jurisdictional projects.

During his tenure as International Director of Risk, Insurance and Claims Management for the Hertz
Corporation, Patrick was also a non-executive director of the Hertz captive insurance company,
Probus and led a business transformation that resulted in improved quality and productivity at
significantly reduced costs.

More recently, he was Chief Risk Officer at global specialty insurer, where he designed and
implemented a global enterprise-wide risk structure with embedded risk and insurance
programmes, as well as the board reporting programme. Additionally, he led the Solvency II
compliance project.

Patrick has long played a prominent role in promoting industry-wide risk management best practice.
A non-Executive director of Airmic, the UK association for risk and insurance management
professionals, for seven years, he was appointed chair in June 2015. He is also a member of the
Chartered Insurance Institute’s London claims committee, a guest lecturer at the Cass Business
School, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a certified European risk professional.
